The Sound of Connection

Every Sunday at Udara Bali feels like a journey of its own — a day where body, mind, and spirit come together in rhythm with the ocean and the community. The sound of the waves blends with music, laughter, and stillness. Each week offers something new, yet familiar: a return to myself.
This Sunday begins with a sound healing session — a space to listen, to feel, and to connect more deeply with the vibration of life itself.
The Gong Bath – Seeing Sound
The day begins with a gong bath, and this time, I decide to keep my eyes open. I want to learn how to play the gong, to really see how the sound is born.
He starts with a large mallet, moving it in gentle arcs across the surface of the gong. Then, in circles — left to right, right to left — he draws the sound out, layer by layer. Later, he switches to smaller batons, repeating the same movements with more precision.
Now that I’m watching closely, I notice how the different rings of the gong create different tones — how vibration becomes music, how sound becomes energy.
The Mantra – Coming Home
After the gong bath, we begin to chant the Kundalini Yoga mantra “Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Se So Hung.”
This mantra is known as the mantra of healing.
- Ra represents the sun — energy and expansion.
- Ma the moon — receptivity and calm.
- Da is the earth — grounding and stability.
- Sa is infinity — the totality of existence.
- Sa Se So Hung means I am One with All That Is.
As a Kundalini Yoga teacher, chanting this feels like coming home. My whole being softens into the rhythm — the vibration settles into my heart.
The Breath – Releasing What No Longer Serves
Then the breathwork session begins.
We breathe in twice — once into the belly, then into the chest — and out once, in a smooth flow. The breath is connected; we never hold it. For thirty minutes, we stay with this rhythm. We set an intention — what do I want to let go of?
At one point, we begin to breathe out with sound, letting the voice carry what’s been stuck. She guides us toward release. At the end, she counts down from four to one, and we are invited to scream it out — to let the body and voice release everything that no longer serves.
I take a deep breath in and let out a long, powerful scream — it goes on for what feels like minutes. The sound that comes from deep within me is raw and real. It’s incredible how strong and steady it feels, like a river of energy finally flowing free.
Afterward, we shift into breathing through the nose, soft and slow, letting the nervous system return to calm.
The Visualization – A Journey Through Gratitude
Then comes the visualization.
We are guided to walk through a door into a space filled with warm, golden light. Slowly, walls appear — lined with shelves of books. Each book holds a story from my life.
My attention is drawn to one book at the top. Its cover is slate blue, the exact color of my yoga clothes today. I reach for it and open it.
Inside begins an inner journey of gratitude and connection.
I travel through moments of deep thankfulness — the birth of my son Sem, my bond with Mark. Then, I feel the presence of my ancestors. My parents appear, standing in their rightful place as parents. I find myself in the child’s place, and Sem stands before me. I sense the generations stretching out behind and before — including my brothers and their children.
We form a circle together — and then, lying down, our heads meet in the center. Around us, more circles form, rippling outward. Everything is connected. Every generation, every story, every breath.
I feel a wave of profound gratitude move through me — for life, for love, for the endless thread that connects us all.
Pure You – The Space Within
Moments like these remind me what Pure You is truly about. It’s not about becoming someone new — it’s about remembering who you are beneath the layers of noise and effort.
When we breathe, sound, and open ourselves to the vibration of life, we come home to that deeper knowing.
In the silence after the sound, I feel it clearly:
Pure You is the space within where everything is connected — your breath, your body, your story, and the generations before and after you.
It’s the gentle awareness that you are already whole.
About Me – Pure You
My name is Jacqueline Evers. Through Pure You, I create a space where presence, awareness, and the heart lead the way. I guide people — and myself — back to what is already whole within us: our essence, our rhythm, our inner light.
Writing and sharing these reflections is my way of holding a mirror for others — an invitation to pause, to breathe, and to reconnect with the quiet wisdom inside. Every word is an offering: a gentle reminder that transformation doesn’t have to be loud or forced; it unfolds naturally, when we allow ourselves to simply be.
Through retreats, teachings, and stories, I explore the intersection of body, mind, and spirit — the places where courage meets tenderness, where curiosity opens to understanding, and where self-love becomes a practice of daily life.
